General Information

4-H is an organization sponsored by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, the State of Texas, Texas Cooperative Extension, and by local county governments.

Its goal is to help young people grow into capable, responsible, confident members of their communities by providing information, opportunities, activities and events which are educational, development and fun. The 4-H motto is "TO MAKE THE BEST BETTER."

4 "H's" Definition

The four "H's" are explained in the organizations, pledge, which every 4-H'er should know:

I pledge...
My Head to clearer thinking,
My Heart to greater loyalty,
My Hands to larger service and
My Health to better living for
My club, my community,
My country and my world.

The four "H's" are found on the international symbol of 4-H, the green clover with white H's. 4-H and its symbol can be found in all of the United States and in many foreign countries.
