Walk Across Texas with El Paso 4-H
Thank you for your interest in Walk Across Texas!
Walking is a great way for children, parents, everyone in 4-H, to become more physically active.
Walk Across Texas is a great way to get everyone walking.
4-H clubs in El Paso will walk across (around) Texas starting with National 4-H Week 2005 - October 2-8, 2005.
The WAT program for 4-H was kicked off at the State Fair of Texas, October 1, 2005 by Texas 4-H Council youths.
El Paso 4-H clubs will be logging in miles and results will be posted on this website to keep track of the mileage reported by the El Paso 4-H clubs/groups.
A pre-determined route has been selected by El Paso 4-H (see map shown above).
Can you guess how long it will take the 4-H groups to report the mileage that will allow them to reach around Texas??
Do you know how many miles it takes to reach from one side of Texas to the opposite side??
Answer- 830 miles.
Special - Also as part of National 4-H Week in El Paso a few hardy youths and adults will climb to the Top of Texas.
The top of Texas is the 8,749 feet Guadalupe Peak, the highest point in Texas.
Watch for the results at this site.
We hope that you will watch the mileage accumulate as the El Paso 4-H members and families Walk Across/Around Texas.
We hope that others will take advantage of this great "Health" cause and start their own WAT program.
